Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re unable to get your ring size checked with us, we recommend using a ring sizer to ensure an accurate fit. These sizers come in half sizes, but if you fall between sizes, we can accommodate quarter sizes as well. Having a ring sizer on hand is useful since ring sizes can change over time due to factors like aging, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or even differences between fingers. For thicker bands, we suggest going half a size up and, if possible, checking your size with a sizer of the same band thickness.
Your first re-sizing for engagement rings only is complimentary within the first 3 months of delivery and within ¾ up or down from the original size, in order to maintain the integrity of the ring. Shipping both ways is also complimentary for purchases and deliveries within the U.S.
For other rings, we offer resizing by half a size for rings we’ve made, starting at $50. However, some designs, such as eternity bands, may not be resizable and might require a full remake. Resizing varies by ring design, so feel free to reach out to us at contact@pureciousjewelry.com with any questions and concerns.
Every piece is handcrafted in California, with some chains sourced directly from Italy, ensuring quality and authenticity. We use only solid 14K or 18K gold, and platinum, never vermeil, plated, or filled metals. Although our jewelry is made with durable materials, they require certain care and maintenance to last, like everything!
To care for your gold and platinum jewelry, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals like chlorine and household cleaners, and remove jewelry before exercising, or doing chores to prevent scratches and dullness. Keep pieces dry and wipe them after wear, especially if they come into contact with sweat or lotions. For cleaning, soak jewelry in warm water with mild dish soap for about 15-20 minutes, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a lint-free cloth. Using a polishing cloth can help restore shine. Avoid abrasives like toothpaste on gold, and if white gold starts to lose its bright color, it may need rhodium re-plating. Platinum may develop a patina over time, which can be professionally polished. Store jewelry separately in soft pouches or lined boxes to prevent scratching, and keep them in a dry place to minimize tarnishing. Regular maintenance, including annual jeweler checkups for loose stones or worn prongs, helps keep your jewelry in pristine condition for years.
To care for sterling silver jewelry, avoid exposure to moisture, chemicals, and sulfur-containing substances (like perfumes, lotions, and household cleaners), as silver tarnishes when exposed to air and certain elements. Store silver pieces in an airtight pouch or anti-tarnish cloth to slow oxidation. To clean, mix mild dish soap with warm water, gently scrub with a soft toothbrush or cloth, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. For tarnished silver, use a specialized silver polishing cloth or a non-abrasive silver cleaner. Avoid using paper towels or tissues, as they can scratch the metal. Regular wear can help prevent tarnishing, but if not worn often, store silver jewelry in anti-tarnish strips or treated cloth bags. For intricate designs or heavily tarnished pieces, professional cleaning may be necessary.
To care for gemstone jewelry, avoid exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and direct sunlight, as some stones can fade or become brittle. Remove jewelry before swimming, exercising, or using household cleaners. Clean most gemstones by gently wiping with a damp cloth and mild soap; avoid soaking porous stones like opals, pearls, or turquoise, as they can absorb moisture and get damaged. Use a soft toothbrush for harder stones like diamonds, sapphires, and rubies, but avoid ultrasonic cleaners for delicate gems like emeralds, pearls, and amber. Store gemstone jewelry separately in soft pouches to prevent scratches, as harder stones can scratch softer ones. Regularly check settings to ensure stones are secure, and get professional cleanings for intricate designs or valuable pieces.
To keep your Purecious pieces radiant, we offer complimentary annual professional cleaning and inspection.
